Overall good boot, two issues
PostedNovember 2, 2013
The new seahiker boot is possibly one of the best looking dingy/skiff boots out there right now. It comes with an extra set of red bungee laces to swap out or replace as well. The boot fits very nicely, however, this is where one issue lies. Acknowledging that I have a wide foot, the boot was still very hard to get off--it took me about three minutes the first time I did it, granted they have stretched slightly and are easier to get off after a sail when your feet are sweaty. I asked a few friends who recently bought the same boot and they told me they have not had the same problem, so I will attribute it to my wide feet and ankles. If you intend to wear socks underneath them you will want to get a full size or size-and-a-half larger that your normal shoe size in order to accommodate that. The second issue is with the manufacturing. After a few uses I noticed the fabric cover over the neoprene layer on the back edge of the boot beginning to separate. Nothing a little duct tape can't fix, but I feel that for $125 these boots should be perfect (that accounts for my 3 in quality). I love these boots after three weeks of usage; they dry out easily after rinsing/washing and are very comfortable and good looking. They were the tiniest bit slippery for the first few uses, but have come into their prime now that the outer layer of dust and gloss has worn off. I high recommend this boot. Just make sure to get the right size for your needs.
